
Although it has been illegal for drivers in Ontario to talk, text, type, dial or email using hand-held cell phones and other hand-held devices, the accidents from distracted driving remain prevalent. In September 2015, the penalties for distracted driving in Ontario have increased significantly, and we sincerely hope that this will help reduce distracted driving accidents.
As of September 1, 2015, a driver that is convicted of distracted driving, will face a fine of $490, and as high as $1,000; and three demerit points.
