Our Fee Promise
NO FEES UNLESS YOU WIN
You may have heard about No Win No Fee Lawyers for personal injury and wrongful death claims or seen this on billboards or advertisements for personal injury lawyers. What does this actually mean and how does it work? No Win No Fee injury lawyers work on the basis of a Contingency Fee Agreement. These are regulated and, often, standardized fee agreements that must be approved by the regulatory body that governs the practice of law. This unique fee agreement provides access to justice for the most vulnerable individuals that have been injured or those that have lost a loved one due to an incident caused by someone else. Often these apply in situations involving motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall cases, and other premises liability claims. If you or a loved one has suffered a serious injury due to the negligence or reckless behavior of an individual or business, you may be able to advance a claim for personal injury. If we accept your case on a contingency fee basis, we charge no fees unless we obtain money for you.
We understand that following a serious injury, you may be facing financial difficulty. Many people suffering a serious injury are unable to afford the additional expense of paying a lawyer by the hour to advance a claim against an insurance company or other large corporation. With a contingency fee agreement, the costs are advanced for you and we wait until your case is concluded to get paid. If we lose, we get paid nothing. If we are able to settle your case, or if we go to trial and win, we charge a percentage of the amount of money we obtain for you.

What does it mean when a lawyer or law firm offers a No Win No Fee retainer, otherwise known as a contingency fee retainer? For Ontario residents, the good news is that all lawyers must use an approved retainer agreement. This standard and approved retainer agreement brings Ontario in line with many other jurisdictions that allow clients to hire lawyers on contingency fee basis. These types of retainers generally provide that lawyers will only be paid for services if they recover money for the client.
